New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday assured Telangana Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna that his department had plans to take up Armoor-Adilabad via Nirmal railway line at the earliest.

Talking to the media after meeting the Union Minister at Delhi, Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna said that the new line, proposed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recently to the Centre, got a favourable response.

They said that the Union Minister told that both the governments could take up the project as a joint venture project under a PPP module.

The 145 km route would cost Rs 1,200 crore in all.Suresh Prabhu assured the ministers that if a separate budgetary allocation was not made in the next budget, he would involve the Railway Board to get the work done.

He also informed them that the Chief Minister had agreed to bear 50 per cent of the cost.
