Nizamabad: Nizamabad MP K Kavitha made a whirlwind tour of the town on Tuesday and laid foundation stones for several developmental programmes costing Rs 4. 43 crore.

Initially, she laid the foundation stone and performed Bhoomi puja for an MLA camp office in Subhashnagar.

Addressing the gathering, the Nizamabad MP said it was the first time in the country that a camp office was being constructed for the MLAs and credit should go to the TRS government for this.

She said the camp office was being constructed so that MLAs would be easily available to the people to receive memoranda from them.

The MLAs could listen to the grievances of the people at the camp office and take appropriate steps, she said.

She also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a building at an estimated cost or Rs 43 lakh for the ICDS office. She also released the calendar of SAKHI-SHE teams at the child welfare centre.

She said the TRS government was giving top priority to the welfare of women in the State. The government would take stringent action against those who indulge in atrocities against women, she added. She said the honour of women would be protected at any cost.

The Nizamabad MP further added that pregnant women would be taken care of and given special treatment. Later, she laid the foundation for the social welfare hostel meant for girls of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes community.

She inaugurated a skill development programme for the members of the minority community. She also distributed cycles for 47 girls of the minority community studying in the ninth class. She assured the members that the TRS government would accord utmost importance to the minority community.

Later, she unveiled the calendar and diary of the TNGOS at the Pragathi Bhavan and assured them of taking up their issues with the Central and State governments and get them resolved.

TNGOs president K Ravinder Reddy, TNGOS honorary president Devi Prasad, TNGOs Mahila president Rachel, Nizamabad district TNGOs president Aluka Kishen and others were present.
