TSPSC objection halts doctors recruitment
The Telangana government’s move to fill the vacancies of doctors in the government run hospitals has come to a grinding halt following the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) raising certain objections.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s move to fill the vacancies of doctors in the government run hospitals has come to a grinding halt following the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) raising certain objections.
According to the Medical and Family Welfare department sources, the government had intended to fill 2,000 odd vacancies in the government run hospitals in a phased manner.
Accordingly, during the current financial year a request has been sent to the TSPSC to issue notification to fill up 1,000 doctors and other medical staff. The government also wanted to give weightage of marks to about 200 doctors who were already working for long time on contract basis in government hospitals.
However, the TSPSC has reportedly raised objection to providing weightage of marks. Explaining the situation, officials pointed out that earlier in the united Andhra Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) had conducted the examinations.
Then the individual departments had framed the rules and regulations governing the appointments of those coming through the service commission examinations from different regions like Andhra and Telangana.
Following the formation of the TSPSC the entire State has now become a single unit and the TSPSC cannot follow the earlier rules.
It was against this background that the government and the TSPSC have been discussing on framing new rules and regulations that could provide for giving weightage to serving doctors on contract basis.
Until the new modalities are finalised it would not be possible for the TSPC to hold recruitment examination to fill the doctor’s vacancies, the sources added.
