Kothagudem: The town roads are being expanded to meet the increasing demands of the growing population, said local MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao in Palvancha on Wednesday.

After inspecting national highway works in Kothagudem on Wednesday, Rao held discussions with several traders who had lost their livelihood due to road widening works.

Addressing local mechanics, the MLA urged them to submit applications for shifting to Autonagar. He advised them not to leave vehicles under repairs on roads. Autonagar should be used for this purpose.

Rao inspected the drainage system from Dammapet crossroads via Ambedkar centre to the local bus-stand and urged coconut traders not to dump garbage in the municipal canals as it would become breeding ground for mosquitoes. Instead, they should use dustbins, he suggested.

The legislator inspected the road widening works on the Sastri road from the bus stand centre to local temple. He gave suggestions to the Transco officials on the shifting of electric poles and also sought people’s cooperation in speeding up works.

Among those who accompanied the MLA were Palvancha DSP Srinivasulu, Municipal Commissioner Raji Reddy, DE Bhaskar Goud and public representatives.
