Hyderabad: The city police arrested four persons in connection with the theft at Transgender Welfare Society and recovered gold, silver and cash worth Rs 27 lakh from their possession.

The arrested persons were identified as Ramesh Sharma, Sidaun Saansi, Ranveer Saansi and Rakesh Kumar Meena, all natives of Rajasthan.

The police said the four persons were tenants of the same building in which Transgender Welfare Society was located and the members used to keep their valuables and money in the safe located in the society building.

The four persons knew about this and planned to steal the gold, money and other valuables. Accordingly, they broke open the door at around 9.15 am on February 13 and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 630 grams, silver articles weighing 10 kgs and cash worth Rs 7,13,280 –
all worth Rs 27 lakh, the police said.

The police received a complaint about the theft and acted swiftly. The investigators verified the CCTV footages and traced the thieves in Maharashtra. A team of the Shahinayatgunj police nabbed the thieves in Nanded district on Tuesday with the help of the Vajirabad police and recovered the stolen material intact.

The police said the accused resorted to the theft after they had been asked to vacate the house they were living on rent. Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, B Venkateshwar Rao said the
antecedents of the accused was being verified.
