Mahabubabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to be ignoring Opposition’s criticism and continuing his thanks-giving missions by making holy trips to fulfill his vow of presenting gold ornaments to deities in various temples of late.

On the occasion of Maha Sivaratri on Friday, KCR visited Kuravi village in Mahabubabad district and offered a gold moustache to Lord Veerabhadra Swamy. The gold ornament weighing 20.28 gm cost the exchequer Rs 60,000.

The offering of gold moustache comes close on the heels of his offering of gold ornaments worth over Rs five crore to Lord Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala on Wednesday (February 22).

As a matter of fact, the Chief Minister, along with his family members, cabinet colleagues, Assembly Speaker, Chief Secretary and senior officials, had proceeded to Tirumala to fulfill his vow by offering the gold ornaments to Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Padmavathi.

It may be mentioned here that the Chief Minister presented a 11.7 kg gold crown worth over Rs three crores to Goddess Bhadrakali in Warangal on the occasion of Navrathri-Dasara celebrations in October last year.

Earlier on December 3, 2015, he performed “Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagnam” in sprawling grounds of his farm house on the outskirts of the city. What had shocked many was that he had spent crores of rupees for the yagnam at a time when the State was reeling through severe drought conditions.

All the Opposition parties have lashed out at the Chief Minister for these extravagant offerings by denting the exchequer for fulfilling his personal vows.
