Hyderabad: With the constitution of new Wakf Board, it is speculated that the Chief Executive Officer is likely to be replaced.

According to official sources, the current CEO Md Asadullah wrote to government requesting for his transfer to Revenue Department, his parent department.

However, he was not relieved because the election process of Telangana State Wakf Board was underway. He has now once again requested the authorities to send him back to his parent department.

He said in the past on several occasions he expressed his wish to return to his parent department as he was finding it difficult to work under political pressure but he was not relieved. Sources said that as CEO he had initiated action in several cases after formation of the Board.

The official declared war on the land mafia encroaching upon several crores worth Wakf properties throughout the State during his stint. His action won accolades from civil society groups and also some leaders in the ruling party.

They pointed out that the achievements of the CEO, including preservation of the Mecca Madina Wakf in Pathergatti, which was under occupation of a single family for last 60 years.

He also initiated criminal action against a fake Mutawalli, who had been collecting Rs 30 lakh a year from tenants of Waqf property in Madinaguda, near Miyanpur. He took possession of Wakf properties in several locations in Khammam town, officials added.
