    In a bid to galvanize the party and to expose the failures of the TRS government, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is planning to hold a public meeting to be addressed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi here on Telangana Formation Day (June 2).

    Hyderabad: In a bid to galvanize the party and to expose the failures of the TRS government, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is planning to hold a public meeting to be addressed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi here on Telangana Formation Day (June 2).

    The coordination committee meeting of the TPCC chaired by AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh is learnt to have reviewed the party’s strengths and weakness in the state. He is learnt to have discussed the reports that the party was losing its base in north Telangana districts.

    Singh, according to sources, has asked the party senior leaders as to why they were not playing an active role in the programmes organized by the party.In another development, it was also decided that Digvijaya Singh would be the observer during the meeting of the Telangana Congress Legislature Party to be held on the eve of the Budget Session.

    He would advise the legislature party on the strategies it should adopt to corner the government on various issues, sources said. According to party insiders, issues like lack of coordination among the party leaders and outbursts against each other came in for discussion.

    Singh had made it clear that there would be no change of guard in TPCC till the next elections. The TPCC chief was given freedom to strengthen the party by appointing state, district, mandal and village-level party committees by the end of March.

    It is learnt that the party high command would focus attention on the state party. Senior party leaders would be visiting the state frequently and will tour the districts to understand the local issues and chalk out action plan to rejuvenate the party.
