Hyderabad: The state government on Saturday announced that it would fill 50,000 vacancies in the next financial year.

Replying to a discussion on the motion of thanks to Governor’s address, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that he had stated on many occasions during the agitation for separate Telangana that if the state was carved about one lakh people would get job opportunities.

He said after coming to power the government said that it would fill one lakh vacancies in five years and it has been working in that direction. In the next financial year, the government would fill 50,000 vacancies in various departments and necessary provision for the salary burden on the government was being made in the budget proposals which the Finance Minister would present to the Assembly on Monday.

Take jibes at the Congress and Telugu Desam which were in power before bifurcation, the Chief Minister said that these parties were criticising the government that it had forgotten its election promise.

They should first explain how many jobs they had filled during their six-decade rule. Most of the time the previous governments opted for outsourcing staff or providing contract jobs, he said.
