Hyderabad: Congress MLA D K Aruna on Thursday criticised the government for having failed to create proper infrastructure facilities in the educational institutions as part of KG to PG scheme. Aruna also demanded that the government immediately conduct DSC for filling up vacancies of teachers in government schools.

Speaking on the demands for grants pertaining to education in the Assembly on Thursday, she pointed out that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had promised to establish schools in about 15 acres with class rooms, laboratories, playgrounds, appointing sufficient number of teachers, water and sanitation facilities.

Further, it had promised to establish polytechnic and engineering colleges, and new universities. But it could not deliver on any of its electoral promises for the last three years, she added.

Terming education as the bedrock for the human resources development of the State, Aruna said for the last three years the government had been dodging the KG to PG scheme on one pretext or the other.

She said there were no toilet in about 17,332 schools out of total 25,966 schools and nearly 11,334 schools in the State did not have playgrounds.
Similarly, water facility was not provided to toilets in about 16,000 schools and 1,415 schools did not have power supply.

Adding to these woes, 1,349 primary schools did not have teachers and 484 Mandal Education Officers and 44 Deputy Directors of education posts remained vacant in the school education, she added.
