Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday said that three acres of land would be given to the members of SC communities who came forward to undertake agriculture. Intervening in the discussion on the demands for grants of welfare departments in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the objective behind implementing the scheme was to improve the lot of poor SCs.

Stating that the scheme was a continuous programme, the Chief Minister said that the government was intent on making it a big success clearing all hurdles. The Chief Minister said that it had been scientifically proven that agriculture would be a viable income source if the unit was three acres.

He said that those who did not have any land would be given three acres and those who had less than three acres of land would be brought to that level.

He said no one had requested the government to implement three acres land to the SCs scheme but the government took a decision in this regard. “We have come up with the scheme on our own,” he said. He informed that this year about 10,000 acres would be distributed.
