Hyderabad: After ascertaining the performance of MLAs and MPs through a survey, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has now embarked on another major task of rating the performance of senior IAS and IPS officers.

The purpose of this survey is to identify ‘dynamic ‘bureaucrats, particularly IAS and IPS officers, who can play a major role in implementing various welfare schemes announced by the government in the budget 2017-18. These new programmes are of immense importance for the government since they are aimed at getting votes from all sections of the people in the 2019 elections.

The Chief Minister according to sources had entrusted the responsibility of taking up the survey to the state GAD (Political, services) and state HRD (Human Resources Development, Services) wings. The survey report in addition to rating will give a detailed note on success stories of every officer and the challenging tasks he/she had taken up under the previous regimes in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The performance of all 31 District Collectors, Secretaries of various departments and HoDs (Head of the Departments) of other important government wings would also be assessed and shortlist the best and most efficient officials. Collectors who excelled in their duties would be given special tasks to implement the schemes in the districts.

The other selected senior officials would be appointed in the mainstream departments for the successful implementation of government flagship programmes and other welfare and developmental schemes in the next two years.

The Chief Minister had given top priority to state Finance, Irrigation, Agriculture, Housing, Rural Water Supply, BC, SC, ST and Minority Welfare departments and Civil Supplies and revenue-generating Excise, Commercial Taxes, Transport and Stamps, Land and Registrations departments in the government.

The major challenge before the government is the construction of two-bedroom houses, completion of the Mission Bhagiratha and implementation of welfare schemes for shepherds, weavers, washer men and fishermen communities announced in the 2017-18 Budget.

The government allocated Rs 1000 crore for the Most Backward Classes (MBC) Corporation and RS 6000 crore for the BC welfare alone in the next financial year. Sources said that a major reshuffle in the state administration is likely to take place in the next two months. The officials who are appointed in the key departments would continue in the posts till they achieve the targets set by the government.
