Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao said that the double bedroom houses would bring qualitative changes in the lives of weaker sections.
The Minister who chaired a review meeting on Tuesday, asked the Housing Minister to prepare guidelines to ensure the beneficiaries do not sell the houses allotted to them. If this rule is not included in the guidelines the living standards cannot be changed, KTR said.
The Minister said that the process was being put on fast track mode as the government has agreed to give certain relaxations in building rules as sought by the builders. Since the MLAs are directly talking to the working agencies, many companies are coming forward for construction of double bedroom houses, he said. The Minister said that government would start the construction of one lakh houses this year and complete them in the next financial year.
He said that the tender process for 16,562 houses was completed and houses were grounded at many places and soon tenders would be called for more 16,000 houses. He said that the Ministers and MLAs would oversee the construction works of the houses and soon the public representatives would lay foundation stone for the housing programme.
The Minister asked city MLAs to take the initiative and identify open spaces in their constituencies, bring awareness among the people in slums to go for double bedroom and ensure a speedy construction of the houses.
He asked the Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy to set up a project management unit for the city housing programme. Indrakaran Reddy said that the department would extend total support for the city housing program and directed the department officials to have a special meeting with the GHMC officials.
He said that the housing scheme would be speeded up as desired by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The Minister said that the double bedroom housing scheme would bring changes in the life standards of people.
