Pegasus Art Gallery is conducting an art exhibition title ‘Parallax’. The expo has paintings on display by Artist Sayyad Shaiek and Jackie Lima. The theme ‘Parallax’ discusses the difference between what is seen with our two spherical eyeballs, the emotional response to what is being experienced and the pictorial transcendence of that information onto pictorial surfaces.

Paintings and drawings by the US-based artist Jackie Lima are developed out of her Indian experience. She has been making and exhibiting her art in India since 2011. She displayed more than 10 paintings in the exhibition.

She said her work has always been about the ‘shift in points of view’. She often moves changes perspective - while painting and the information become a part of the painting. This concept particularly comes alive in the three-dimensional paintings on view here. She used mediums like acrylic on canvas, aluminium, and oil/masonite.

Hyderabad-based artist Sayyad Shaiek completed his BFA in painting from AP University and MFA from the University of Hyderabad. Sayyad is intimate with the landscapes of Indian villages. His works are mystical; they open up the heart of the land, its buildings and its people.

His works engage perspective in carrying the spectator from their own space into a place of vivid imagination. From his place upon the Earth, he sees what is happening and is compassionate in his interpretation and presentation. He used medium like water colour on paper. His paintings are more about night landscapes and pollution.
