The Centre has sanctioned one more National Highway for Telangana State - a 70-km stretch along Kothakota-Gadwal-Gudur-Mantralayam. With this, the total number of National Highways in the State has been increased to 22. 

Hyderabad: The Centre has sanctioned one more National Highway for Telangana State - a 70-km stretch along Kothakota-Gadwal-Gudur-Mantralayam. With this, the total number of National Highways in the State has been increased to 22.

In an official press note issued here on Saturday, Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao stated that the new highway would improve road connectivity in the State. Telangana State had got so far, a total of 2,985 km length of highways in the two-and-a-half years of the TRS rule and put the total stretch of highways to 5,512 km, the Minister said.

He also instructed the officials concerned to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for the same. He asked Engineer-in-Chief Ganapathi Reddy to send DPRs to the Centre to get more funds for the purpose.
