Hyderabad: The National Backward Classes Welfare Association on Monday demanded that the government o release the funds meant for fees reimbursement to the Backward Classes, particularly for students in professional courses.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Association’s president R Krishnaiah stated that even though the government was extending the benefit to most of the courses, including degree and PG, the professional courses were being ignored.

He noted that about 60 per cent of the students in Engineering, MBA and MCA were denied benefit. He urged the Chief Minister to release Rs 80 crore to help the students.

He said several students had dropped out of colleges because they were unable to pay the fee. He demanded that the government relase funds for fee reimbursement.
