Leaders demand answers from the ruling party

Hanamkonda: Since the TRS government assumed power, three kharif and rabi seasons have gone by, however, the farmers continue to face hardships, TDP national secretary Revuri Prakash Reddy said.

Releasing an Open Letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao here on Wednesday, he told the media persons that the government has always been trying to evade the issues faced by the people, especially the farmers.

“Now, the CM wants to see happiness of the farmers, this in a way the government is accepting that farmers are in distress and has done nothing for them,” Reddy said, pointing to the price fall of chilli this season.

While the neighbouring states have been offering support price to chilli and turmeric farmers, the government didn’t come to the rescue them, he said, stating that free fertiliser offer next year, which KCR announced recently has nothing to do with the current situation.

“If KCR really believes in democracy, he should answer the questions posed in the Open Letter first before he addresses Warangal public meeting on Thursday,” Reddy said.

Eega Mallesham, TDP State general secretary, said: “The government is exerting pressure on district officials to mobilise the members of self-help group (SHGs) to attend the public meeting to make it a huge success.”

If the government is working well and fulfilling its election promises, what is the need for mobilising the crowds, he questioned the TRS leaders.

The Open Letter demanded KCR to answer why he was backtracked on his promise to make a dalit as CM and what happened to his promise of providing financial support to Telangana martyrs’ families. Of the 1,600 martyrs, the government only helped 363 families ignoring the rest.

The TDP also wanted to know the fate of KG to PG free education, three acre land to dalits, double bedrooms to poor and establishment of Handloom Corporation with Rs 10,000 crore.

District general secretary Pullur Ashok Kumar, Warangal Rural district convener Gannoju Srinivasa Chary, Hanmakonda Sambaiah, Sriramula Suresh, Jatoth Santhosh Naik, Md Raheem, Margam Sarangam, Kusuma Shyam, T Raju and K Jayashankar were among others present.
