APTDC revenue jumps 40% in Vijayawada division
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), Vijayawada division, revenue jumped by around 40 per cent during the last one year due to increasing number of visitors to Bhavani Island as well as resorts owned and maintained by the APTDC in Krishna and Guntur districts which are part of Vijayawada division.
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), Vijayawada division, revenue jumped by around 40 per cent during the last one year due to increasing number of visitors to Bhavani Island as well as resorts owned and maintained by the APTDC in Krishna and Guntur districts which are part of Vijayawada division.

During the financial year 2016-17, the revenue of APTDC, Vijayawada division, was Rs 10 crore, which is Rs 3 crore more than Rs 7 crore earned during the previous financial year of 2015-16. The APTDC maintains 86 cottages and rooms in four places at Surya Lanka beach at Bapatla, Berm Park in Bhavanipuram on the banks of Krishna River, cottages in Bhavani Island in Krishna River and at Amaravati (Dhyana Buddha) in Guntur district.
There was a huge demand for resorts at Berm Park in Bhavanipuram and Bhavani Island last year during the Krishna Pushkaralu in August 2017. Hundreds of pilgrims enjoyed the holidays and visit to the city during the Pushkaralu.Compared to private star hotels, the rents at the resorts owned by APTDC are very less within the range of Rs 1,700 to Rs 3,400. Three star hotels are collecting between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 in cities like Vijayawada and Guntur.
AC rooms are available for Rs 2,500 in the resorts maintained by APTDC and Non-AC rooms are available around Rs 1,500.
Vijayawada divisional manager APTDC V V S Gangaraju said the demand for cottage will increase further in the capital region of Vijayawada and Guntur as the number of visitors to the capital region is increasing in view of the growing cities and population in two cities after bifurcation of the State.
He underlined the need to increase number of boats 11 to 20 in Krishna River to meet the demand from the tourists. He said most of the boats being operated by APTDC in Krishna River in Vijayawada are getting older and there is need to introduce new boats to attract more passengers.
