Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to take some important policy decisions with regard to the implementation of welfare and developmental programmes and strengthen the police system after obtaining a feedback at the State-level police conference to be organised on May 19 in Hyderabad. This conference assumes importance as it is the first time that the Chief Minister is holding such a conference with the police officials from the rank of Sub-Inspector to DGP.

The law and order situation in the State will be discussed at the meeting. In addition, the police officials of Intelligence wing at district level have been asked to furnish details on the socio economic changes that have been brought about among the people in the State at grass roots level, performance of MLAs of all parties in Assembly constituencies, people’s perception and popularity of TRS government.

A select group of police officials have also been instructed to submit a detailed report on the government’s achievements and failures at Assembly constituency level in every district.

Top officials told The Hans India that KCR is keen on ascertaining the government’s performance based on the feedback from police.

The Chief Minister has already got inputs from district administration. Apart from it, some agencies conducted independent surveys on the performance of the government. These surveys would also be taken into consideration.

Based on the outcome from the report to be presented by the police on his government's overall performance, KCR is likely to take corrective measures in the implementation of the developmental programmes, the source said.

Among other issues that are likely to come up for discussion are the condition of the police stations, steps taken to curb Gudumba (illicit liquor), gambling and playing cards, drug and ganja menace, trafficking in girls, atrocities against SC and ST communities and measures taken to prevent supply of
spurious seeds.

KCR pointed out time and agian that the Telangana police had earned a good name all over the country in maintaining law and order in the State. There is need to discuss the measures that need to be taken to measures to ensure that the police deliver a better service to people, an official said.
