Hyderabad: Former Minister and Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy on Tuesday alleged that the State and Union governments failed to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farm produce. He pointed out that the distressed farmers were setting their produce like chilli and turmeric on fire as they were not getting accurate MSP.

Speaking to media on the Assembly premises, Jeevan Reddy said it was not proper for the State and Central governments to blame each other on the issue. Blaming the Centre for the inefficiency of the State government, the former Minister said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has failed to fulfil his assurances in the Assembly on price stabilisation.

The Chief Minister was neglecting the bonus to be paid to the farmers, he said and pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh government was giving Rs 1,500 per quintal bonus.

He said the TRS government is neglecting the Indira Kranthi Pathakam (IKP) centres launched during the previous Congress government. He also asked the government to take responsibility for the farm produce soaked in the unseasoned rains. He said Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was not concentrating on the problems being faced by the farmers.
