Hyderabad Habitat Centre project put on hold
The much-talked about Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC) project modelled after the India Habitat Centre at New Delhi which was to come up at Izzatnagar is now put on hold. It is more than three years now since the project was mooted but there has been no headway.

Speaking to The Hans India, HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said, “We are not moving forward with the Hyderabad Habitat Centre project as the land is under mortgage to the bank and the proposal has to be revised in the context of the new state.”
The HHC was to come up in 14.3 acres at a cost of Rs 150 crore. The HMDA wanted to set up a centre on par with the one in Delhi with an aim to hosting a variety of cultural and academic events.
A senior official said that the objective of the project was to promote heritage, cuisine, art and culture of Hyderabad and Telangana with the goal to make city one of the destinations for the event related to art and culture at a national and international level.
The HHC project would provide facilities such as art galleries, office space, complex of performing arts, auditorium, exhibitions, open air theatre and outdoor facilities.
It would also provide parking for nearly 600 cars. The HMDA had plans to give the contract to the noted architect of Mumbai Hafeez Contractor, he said.
