Kothagudem: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers on Saturday deferred their indefinite strike, launched on June 15, temporarily on the request of the SCCL management. The management had discussions with the five trade unions on Friday.

Disclosing this to the media on Saturday, M Narasimha Rao, secretary of the SCCL trade union affiliated to the CITU, termed the strike by the workers during the past ten days as successful. Five national trade unions, including AITUC, INTUC, HMS, CITU and BMS,

served the strike notice to the SCCL management on March 31 demanding the filling of jobs under hereditary employment. As their demand was not met, the trade unions embarked on a strike from June 15. He said all SCCL workers supported the strike and did not succumb to the inducements offered by the management.
