Hyderabad: Justice H Suresh, a retired judge of the Bombay High Court, has been elected as the President of Indian Association of People's Lawyers (IAPL) at the fourth national conference of the national body held at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on Saturday and Sunday.
Seminars on topics like attacks on lawyers, UID (Aadhaar) surveillance and the new Emergency, the problems of lawyers in Kashmir, social movements and the judiciary, cases relating to terrorism and civil liberties were taken up for discussion during the two-day conference. Advocates Sudhakar Bharadwaj and M Venkanna were elected as Vice- Presidents and advocates D Suresh Kumar and Ankit Grewal were elected as Joint-Secretaries.
