Habsiguda-Tarnaka stretch: Roads you love to hate

​Hyderabad: The rainy season has given the citizens a much-needed relief from the sizzling summer heat, but the relief is short-lived as the motorists are battling to traverse over potholes filled roads.

The stretch between Habsiguda and Tarnaka and the main arterial road which connects Uppal and Secunderabad has turned into an accident-prone site posing grave threat to the commuters. Motorists claim that the bumpy road is back breaking and results in several health hazards.

Many non-fatal accidents have been reported on daily basis on roads filled with concrete and potholes. Commuters moving from Uppal X road, SS Nagar Junction towards Habsiguda and Tarnaka are having a slippery ride and are unable to spot potholes during the rains.

Srinivas, a private firm employee, who takes the stretch between Uppal and Secunderabad, said the roads are very slippery and it has become difficult to travel on this road. He further added that due to the bad roads vehicles are also getting damaged and motorists are unable to control the speed on slippery roads.

Another commuter Rashmi said, earlier the condition of the roads was bad because of the metro rail work and now the roads are filled with potholes. She demanded that the civic authorities deploy the Instant Repair Teams to take road repairs immediately.

“I travel on this road regularly and during the morning hours there is heavy traffic jam on this road as people visiting restaurants here park their vehicles on the road and also bad road conditions is one of the main reason”, said T Sudhakar.

When queried about the same, a senior GHMC official assured that they would immediately send workers to repair the potholes in the area.
