Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has appealed to all educational institutions in the State to observe \'Green Day\' on July 15 as part of third phase of Haritha Haram programme.

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has appealed to all educational institutions in the State to observe 'Green Day' on July 15 as part of third phase of Haritha Haram programme.

Addressing a review meeting with senior official on Monday, the Deputy CM that the students, their parents and also the school staff should be enlightened about the importance of Haritha Haram programme. He said rallies should be held across the State on July 15 and essay and elocution contests should be conducted on the importance of plantation.

Kadiyam said that nearly 30,000 school children would take part in plantation of 50 lakh saplings across the State. He said that the children would also be assigned the task of protecting the saplings after they are planted. He said there was a proposal to include Environmental protection in the school syllabus from next year.
