Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has only processed mere 53,547 out of total 1, 75,298 applications applied under Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). With the deadline to clear the applications approaching fast, the HMDA officials have approached the State government seeking five months to clear all the pending applications. The officials have sought time until December and are not waiting for the government’s approval.

The HMDA had received 1, 75,298 LRS applications of which 1,61,515 are new applications (which were applied after 28 October 2015) and 13,783 are old applications (which were applied during 2008). As many as 53,547 applications have been approved in which 47,259 are new applications and 6,288 are old applications. Whereas 50,817 LRS applications are in still in process and around 53,040 applications have been halted due to various shortfalls like Urban Land Ceiling certificate, registration certificate and others.

The other 17,894 applications were rejected and some of the reasons were cited as applicants failure in paying the initial or nominal fee of Rs 10,000 to process the LRS application (only for new applications). As many as 9,168 applicants did not pay the initial fee, 6,732 applications were rejected under registration after cut-off date (28 October 2015), and 7,082 were rejected under land use not matching and master plan road passing.

The other reasons for rejection were LRS applied for government lands and notary without possession. A senior HMDA official said a total of 1, 75,298 LRS applications have been received and 53,547 applications were approved. He further said the HMDA has written a letter to the State government for the extension of the deadline to December for the clearance of all the LRS applications.
