KCR said just as officials had succeeded in successfully controlling the sale of illicit liquor and playing cards, they should put an end to the menace of drugs and adulteration. The Chief Minister told them that there would be no political interference whatsoever.
Hyderabad: Stung by the growing drug menace in the state, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday directed the Excise and Enforcement wing to go in for an in-depth probe and strike at the roots of the problem.At a review meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan here, the Chief Minister told the officials not to spare anyone howsoever big he might be. Don’t hesitate to
book cases even if they are ministers in my Cabinet, KCR told the officials.
KCR told them not to go in for knee jerk reaction but to conduct a thorough probe and investigate the case from all possible angles. Stringent punishment should be taken if anyone was found to be supplying drugs or indulging in adulteration. Those indulging in such activities should get rigorous punishment, he added.
He said he was pained to hear that even blood is being adulterated and said the government would examine if there was any need for stringent laws. The punishment should be so stringent that those indulging in such activities should shiver, he said.

Blaming the previous governments for not acting tough to eradicate the drug menace, he said there is an urgent need to protect Hyderabad’s brand image. Hyderabad is Telangana state’s lifeline. This anarchy should be eradicated and that is why he had asked Akun Sabharwal not to go on leave.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Excise department has prepared another list of suspects and notices would soon be issued to about 15 people which includes more film personalities.
