Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will being soon issuing fire services ‘no objection certificates’ (NOC) to the structures that rise up to 15 metres. The Centre for Good Governance (CGG) has been tasked with developing software required to link it to the Fire Services Department.

According to the GHMC official, owners of buildings that rise up to 15 metres can apply for fire NOC through online. The GHMC will first conduct inspections of the buildings to see that they have all required paraphernalia to become eligible for NOC. The civic body after inspecting the structure, particularly schools and colleges buildings, will allow the owners to send their applications through online.

“Once someone applies for an NOC online and fills in the details, the inspecting officer will simply tick yes or no as far as the eligibility of the building concerned for getting NOC. The NOC will be generated automatically,” said a senior GHMC official. He said the online system would be put in place in a few days. “Once it is ready, the NOCs will reach the inbox of the applicants. There will be no need for us to do the paperwork,” he added.

The GHMC official further said that the only existing building owners can apply for online fire NOC and for future construction they have to apply through common application form which would be introduced very shortly. The official also stressed that online fire NOC is applicable only for buildings up to height of 15 metres.

He said the GHMC would cancel trade license if building owners for whom the notices are issued. He also made it clear that if any builder is found procuring licenses and permissions without the fire services NOC, officials who issue such permission will face disciplinary action, he said.
