Terms Cong ‘the enemy of State’; questions its integrity in granting statehood to Telangana
Hyderabad: It seems the slugfest between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Opposition Congress seems to be getting murkier by the day as leaders of both the parties are unleashing charges against each other.

In the latest development, IT and MA and UD Minister K T Rama Rao termed that the Congress as the enemy of Telangana State, while Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Utham Kumar Reddy termed Rama Rao a ‘bacha’.

Rama Rao who was addressing a meeting of the newly formed Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi, the students wing of the party, said that it had become a habit for the TPCC president to refer to him as a ‘bacha’. “He also refers to the TRS government as a family rule which is unbecoming of a person of his stature,” Rama Rao said.

“Uttam Kumar Reddy should first explain if Rama Rao is a bacha, then what is AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi?” he asked and said he was married and had two children unlike Rahul Gandhi.

As far as the allegation of family rule is concerned, he said, “It is not proper on the part of the TPCC president to make such allegations. Uttam Kumar Reddy should understand that it is the Congress which has a long history of dynastic rule right from Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi,” he fumed.

He said though it was a fact that the family members of the Chief Minister were in politics, it was because people had elected them. “We have not entered politics through backdoor. If me or Nizamabad MP Kavitha do not perform well and live up to the aspirations of voters, they will defeat us,” he said.

Rama Rao fumed at the Congress for forceful merger of Telangana into Andhra region to create Andhra Pradesh, suppressing 1969 statehood agitation. He said though the Congress had a truck with the TRS in 2004, it again deceived the Telangana people.

He said it was good for the Congress leaders like K Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy to maintain decency while talking against the government. “The Congress leaders are just coming in the way of development works and they swindled funds during their regime,” the Minister fumed.

KT Rama Rao also sought to know why they had failed to prevent Kiran Kumar Reddy government from spending Rs 9,000 crore for providing drinking water to Chittoor district alone.

If one district needed that much amount, why 31 districts in Telangana did not need Rs 40,000 crore for providing drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha, he thundered. He said that the previous UPA-led government at the Centre granted statehood to Telangana as it feared bleak future and that the people would revolt against it.
