Hyderabad: A peculiar case of penalising the car owners who had parked their vehicles on roads was witnessed on Monday night. Tyres of about a dozen vehicles were flattened, which were parked at Lions Bhavan near Wesley College in Secunderabad, purportedly by traffic policemen.

Ch Purushottam and his friends who had gathered to celebrate constitution of a new body of Lions Club of Hyderabad Stalwarts were in for utter shock, when they realised that at least two tyres of each vehicle were flattened purportedly by traffic police. He who reported the incident to the nearest police station said that this kind of damage to vehicles was never heard of earlier, as entire nozzles of tyres were removed.

“This was never practiced by policemen and if they wanted to penalise they could have takenthe pictures and sent e-challans or locked the vehicle tyres. If the police felt that the vehicles were obstructing traffic they could have even towed away the cars. But nothing of that sort was done. Stranded on road, they could do nothing and had to hire a cab,” he added.

He said that if the action was not initiated, he would take up the case with the DGP.
