Around 48 students in Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Gurukul school in Khammam district fell sick to alleged food poisoning.

According to the reports, a section of the students from the residential school complained of severe stomach ache and diarrhoea after having a small meal served at the mess on Monday.

The ailing students were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital with the help of school attendants next morning. The district officials learned of the incident and supervised the treatment at the hospital.

So far, 25 students have been discharged from the hospital while the remaining are likely to be discharged today.
