Sangareddy: District Collector Manickraj Kannan has called upon the doctors, anganwadi workers, IKP workers, asha workers, students, teachers and managements of educational institutions to play their roles to prevent dengue from spreading in rural areas during monsoon season, when there is high danger of mosquitoes spreading the dreaded disease.

After flagging-off a rally held from Zilla Parishad office to DM&HO office in Sangareddy on Thursday as part of the month-long dengue prevention programme being observed by the Medical and Health Department, he said, ``all steps have to be taken to ensure surroundings are kept clean to prevent mosquitoes from spreading dengue.’’ Mojiram Rathod, District Medical and Health Officer said that ‘aedes aegypti,’ the mosquito, which spreads dengue, bites only during the day.

He added that patients suffering from dengue would pass through three stages- fever stage, dengue hemorrhagic fever stage and dengue shock syndrome, the final stage being highly risky. He asked people to get treated at government hospitals free of cost if they had any symptoms of fever without any delay.
