The 71st Independence Day is around the corner and a whiff of the festive mood is renting the air. In this regard, Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) in association with CII organised the annual ‘Chak De India Ride’ at National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Madhapur on Sunday. The event was flagged off by Ajay Mishra, Special Chief Secretary - Energy, Telangana.

In this regard, Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) in association with CII organised the annual ‘Chak De India Ride’ at National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Madhapur on Sunday. The event was flagged off by Ajay Mishra, Special Chief Secretary - Energy, Telangana.

Hundreds of cyclists from all walks of life along with senior officials and CEOs participated in the third edition of ride. The event had five categories like ‘Joy Ride’ of 5km; ‘Chak De India 10km Mass Ride’; ‘Chak De India 30km Foundation Ride’; ‘Chak De India 60km Endurance Ride’, and ‘Chak De India 100km Country Side Ride’.

Mishra also unveiled HBC’s ‘Demo Bike Station’ with smart bikes from Germany. Later, he later joined in the 'CEOs & Future Makers Ride', on the newly unveiled smart bike along with other dignitaries.

Mishra commented, “Manohar toiled to start the cycling movement and make it a culture in the city. Today Hyderabad is on the global map of cycling. The GHMC is planning to lay a cycling track along the Musi River stretch and the HMDA is planning for a track along the ORR stretch and these will be executed soon.”

“As Hyderabad is gearing up for the inauguration of upcoming Metro Rail across the city, it is imperative to opt for cycling as the first and last mile connectivity mode. HBC is in the process of creating the required cycling infrastructure by putting up 500 bike stations across the city. About 10,000 state-of-the-art bicycles including e-bikes would be positioned at these bike stations,” said DV Manohar.

Navin Mittal, Principal Secretary - MAUD; Sunil Sharma, Principal Secretary - R&B; T Chiranjeevulu, Commissioner, HMDA; Rajanna, Chairman - CII, Telangana; V Manohar, Chairman, Hyderabad Bicycling Club; Bikshapathi, Director General, National Academy of Construction and Shekar Reddy, former president of CREDAI were also present.
