A Hyderabad man has been jailed in Qatar for allegedly carrying drugs. The man, Shaik Sikander had left for Doha in search of job on June 20 but his agent, Razaaq handed him two packets for delivery in Qatar.

Officials detained him as soon as Sikander landed in the airport on the charges of carrying drugs.

Sikander's family who have been allowed to talk to Sikander once in a week over the phone, plead that he is not guilty and he had believed his agent about the delivery and carried it along.

They have now approached External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister for NRI affairs KT Rama Rao to intervene in the matter and secure his release.
