Hyderabad: In an effort to encourage talent in government service, the State government has introduced “Telangana State Employees Incentive Scheme.” The scheme envisages granting special increment and promotions to the employees with outstanding performance in their duties from this year.

Under the scheme, the government will identify sincere and hardworking officials in every department and felicitate them with cash prize and commendation. The government has already identified 97 officials who excelled in their duties.

The incentive will be given to officials working at the district-level. Most of the officials selected under the scheme are from Agriculture, Medical and Health, Revenue, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development and Forest and Environment Departments. Officials said the government is facing hurdles in implementing the flagship programmes in true spirit due to lack of the availability of efficient officials. The new scheme would encourage officials to show their abilities and also expertise in their respective areas of work.

Special increment would be given to the winners. Apart from increment, the officials would be given priority in promotions. All the departments heads have been asked to monitor the performance of every employee on regular basis and communicate the same to all the employees, so that the others take inspiration and work hard. Officials said that the State HRD and Services Department would also monitor closely the performance of the officials based on the reports submitted by the respective department heads on a monthly basis.

The government is also planning to entrust special assignments to the award-winning and efficient officials for the strict implementation of welfare and developmental programmes at mandal and revenue division level in every district in the future.
