Hyderabad: Visitors to the recreational spots and parks in the city on Independence Day had to suffer due to poor sanitation measures and ill managed recreational equipment. NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park were specially flooded with large number of people.

Most of the parks in city are under the management of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). While it was observed that people have to wait for buying tickets in these parks, it was seen that the sanitation, maintenance of fountains, recreational equipment for children and pathways in the parks were not well maintained.

“We have been waiting since half an hour to purchase tickets, but there is only one ticket counter for such a huge number of people coming in. It is surprising, that the park management could not make the prior arrangement for the counters.

Today is Independence Day and the number of visitors will be definitely more than it would be in regular days,” said a visitor Ramesh. An employee of the NTR Gardens agreed that there was a delay in dispensing the tickets. Due to heavy rush on the Independence Day, many stood outside the park in long queues for entry tickets.

Moreover, the parking charges were also increased at the NTR Marg area. Similarly, the situation in Lumbini Park was also not different. People who visited Indira Park also complained that sanitation was not proper and the broken benches were not replaced.

Sundaraiah Park witnessed a huge turn out on I-Day, thanks to the largest Flag Post. “The park management could have done a better seating arrangement near flag post, but they did not. There are only few benches for sitting,” said a visitor Rana Pratap.
