Nizamabad: A day after she received Telangana Excellence (TEX) Award, Nizamabad Collector Yogita Rana has been dislodged from her position and posted as the Collector of Hyderabad. Rana’s transfer has been on the cards for some time as her stay in the district has reportedly become an eyesore to many people’s representatives for obvious reasons.

Rana, who was declared the best Collector by the government last year for her outstanding performance in the implementation of the Haritha Haram and other programmes, has received TEX in general category for the project ‘Manavatha Sadan Rehabilitation of HIV Infected Children’, in her individual capacity, this year. This apart, she also added another feather in her cap by receiving the national award from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for her excellence in civil administration by making the district Electronic National Agricultural Market (e-NAM) the best in the country, in April this year.

Though the 2003 Batch IAS officer, who hails from Jammu, has been receiving accolades from all quarters, on the flipside, there has been a lot of lobbying to send her off from the district for the last few months. It is learnt that almost all the legislators including the Minister of the district have been unhappy with the Collector.

It was also reported that they had approached the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for Rana’s transfer in the past. It is also reported that Rana had poured out her problem with the IAS Officers Association after the incident in which Mahabubabad MLA Banoth Shankar Naik drew flak from Chief Minister for his alleged misbehaviour against Preethi Meena. Rana, who is known for her rule-book attitude, apparently drew the ire of people’s representatives especially for keeping a tab on illegal sand quarrying, it is learnt.

Vexed by constant nagging, it is learnt that Rana was also mentally prepared to leave the district. It is also said in local political circles that the transfer is something a win-win deal for both Rana and her detractors.

Meanwhile, government has given full additional charge to the Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy as the District Collector.
