Hyderabad: Starting from Friday (Ganesh Chaturthi), all districts in the State of Telangana will receive heavy rainfall. A warning to this effect was issued by the Met department in a bulletin here on Wednesday.

The warning comes in the wake of an upper air cyclonic circulation lying over coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood extending between 3.6 km and 5.8 km above the mean sea level. It lies over northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood and extends up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. The trough from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu along and off coastal Andhra is persisting.

The forecast said light to moderate rains/thundershowers are very likely to occur at many/most places over Telangana from August 24 to 27. No major change in the weather during the subsequent three days, the bulletin added.

During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday, the Southwest monsoon was weak over Telangana. Rain occurred at a few places in the districts of Nalgonda, Khammam and Nizamabad with Miryalaguda, Ramannapeta (both in Nalgonda) and Konijerla (Khammam) recording 4 cm of rainfall each.

There was 2 cm of rainfall each in Thollada (Khammam), Sadasivanagar, Lingampet, Balkonda (all in Nizamabad) and Nalgonda. There was 1 cm rain each in Suryapet, Kampasagar, Dummugudem, Jurala Project, Metpalle, Parvathagiri, Gandhari, Chandrugonda and Mahbubnagar.
