Delhi Social, SC and ST Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam visited Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Friday. The Minister studied the innovative model of introducing Mini-Jetting machines which helps in rectifying sewerage complaints in small lanes.

Hyderabad: Delhi Social, SC and ST Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam visited Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Friday. The Minister studied the innovative model of introducing Mini-Jetting machines which helps in rectifying sewerage complaints in small lanes.

Speaking at an interactive session with sewerage workers turned entrepreneurs who acquired Mini-Jetting machines, he sought opinions. The entrepreneurs opined that after acquiring Mini-Jetting machines they were leading a dignified life.

He further thanked the State government and HMWS&SB for taking up such a useful innovation and providing social security and safety gear to Mini-Jetting entrepreneurs and their colleagues.

Speaking on the occasion Water Board MD M Dana Kishore said these entrepreneurs were not only leading a dignified life but were also providing a dignified lifestyle to customers by resolving sewerage problems well in time. He also said though the HMWS&SB is a pioneer in this field, the Government of India is thinking of introducing this model in other States as well.

Earlier, in the day, the Managing Director briefed the Minister about the various activities of HMWS&SB. He also gave the Power Point Presentation which was recently presented in Prime Minister’s Office. He said Minister KT Rama Rao was behind the idea for a Swatch initiative taken up by the HMWS&SB for eliminating manual sewer operations in Hyderabad.

“The strategy to progressive elimination of manual labour in sewerage operations involve technology interventions, infrastructure interventions, awareness to citizens, trainings and capacity building to workers and contractors and modification of rules, procedures in contracting and tendering, new standard operating procedures for sewerage operations” water board MD said.

The SC/ST Welfare Minister also made a field visit to study the working of Mini-Jetting machine in a small lane near Nampally. Among others who were present during the field trip were M Satyanarayana, Executive Director, P S Suryanarayana, Director(Technical), D Sridhar Babu, Director (Projects-2), Azmeera Krishna, Director(Operations), B Vijay Kumar Reddy, Director(Revenue), A Prabhakar, Director (P&A), HMWSSB, Krishna Kumar, Secretary to Minister and representatives from Dalits Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI).
