Hyderabad: In order to enhance the greenery in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to construct 100 model parks and five theme parks with an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. In this connection, it has decided to construct 40 model parks in the East zone, nine parks in the South zone, 35 parks in the central zones, 20 parks in West zone and nine parks in the North zone. Apart from these, five themes parks will be constructed in five zones.

Speaking to The Hans India here, a senior GHMC official said that a Topiary Park on three acres of land with an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh in BN Reddy Nagar, a TSIIC park, for which the theme yet to be decided will be constructed in 2 acres with Rs 25 lakh in the north zone, a pet park in three acres with Rs 30 lakh in the west zone, a variegated theme park with an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh in the central zone and Kishan Bagh theme park in three acres with Rs 30 lakh in the south zone would be constructed.

The GHMC official said that the entry fee for the parks ranges between Rs 20 to Rs 50. He said that rates would be fixed depending on the theme and respective area.

He said that in all the models, the entry fee will not exceed beyond Rs 20. When questioned about the maintenance, he said that parks will be funded by private firms under corporate social responsibility (CSR) and GHMC would look after their maintenance.
