The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to soon come up with a new enforcement cell which would serve notices to the owners of illegal layout.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to soon come up with a new enforcement cell which would serve notices to the owners of illegal layout.

According to HMDA officials there are more that 5,000 illegal layout in the jurisdiction of HMDA. The new enforcement cell will consist of member from planning department, estate wing, enforcement police and other officials related to illegal layouts.

However, according to HMDA Act-2008 of section 23 (3) the metropolitan development authority may give directions to the concerned local authority to take action against the unauthorised development or construction and the local authority shall take action accordingly.

A senior HMDA official told The Hans India said that there are more than 5,000 illegal layouts in HMDA jurisdiction. He said that the out of these 5,000 identified illegal layouts most of them are from Ghatkesar. He added that these layout permissions are been directly given by the gram panchayat authority.
