Officials told to hold Bathukamma festivities on grand scale

Hyderabad: Tourism Minister A Chandulal on Tuesday asked the officials to make arrangements for celebrating the nine-day Bathukamma festival from September 20 to 28 on a grand scale.

The Minister reviewed the arrangements for Bathukamma celebrations with the District Collectors through video conference on Tuesday. He asked the officials to ensure that the efforts of the government to portray the culture of State to the world succeed.

Chandulal said that every district would be given Rs 5 lakh for the Bathukamma festival. He asked the officials to take up electrification of the government office buildings, etc.

He directed the officials to ensure that a large number of women participate in the festival.

He asked the officials to hold maha Bathukamma on a grand scale on September 27 in every district headquarters. He also wanted the officials to make sure that about 35,000 women participate in ‘Mega Bathukamma’ celebrations in Hyderabad.
