Kothagudem: Electricity consumption has been gradually increasing with rising humid weather in the erstwhile Khammam district. People are facing difficulty with unusual weather in the month of September which is usually expected to have heavy rains and floods.

They are switching on their air conditioners and coolers to beat the heat and opting for alternative relief measures. Meanwhile, the power consumption has gone up to 265 MW on average as against 210 MW in normal days. There are 9,59,971 services in all including 7,44,441 domestic services (category one), 65,702 industrial services (category two) and 1,30,224 agriculture services.

Northern Power Distribution Company Limited officials say the consumption would still increase. They estimate the consumption would reach 300 MW if the same situation continues. They assured to supply power in tune with the rising demand.
