Hyderabad: Alleged failure on the part of the officials in releasing grants in time has led to unprecedented delay in paying salaries to the outsourcing employees in city libraries. The employees have alleged that they are paid salaries once in six months.

Apart from it, the outsourcing employees are also not paid their salaries in accordance with the revised pay scales as specified by the GO No 14 issued on February 19 last year. Salaries of watchmen, security guards and sweepers should have been increased from Rs 5,500 to Rs 12,000.

The workers are receiving Rs 12,700 after all deductions. There are 32 to 35 outsourcing employees working since 2008 in the city libraries.

An Outsourcing librarian on condition of anonymity said, “We are not receiving our salaries in time for last last two years. We want our jobs to be regularised and hope we receive the salaries on time.”

One more outsourcing librarian said, “The government has increased our salaries. But what’s the use we are still not receiving the increased salaries.”

Library officials claim that the department is not receiving grants regularly because of which they are not able to release the salary on time.

The secretary of the library said, “We are not receiving the grants on time, that is the reason we are not able to give salaries to the agencies on time. Once in three months, we are getting the funds.”
