Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was ready to checkmate TRS in next elections.

Addressing the 'Indiramma Rythu Bata' programme in Warangal on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress cadre was fully geared up to take on TRS in the next elections. Expressing satisfaction over the successful conduct of training programmes during the last five days, he said that the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the party workers was a clear indication that Congress was all set to return to power in 2019 elections.

Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that over 30,000 Congress party leaders and workers were trained in the meetings held from September 18 till today. He said except Hyderabad, all nine erstwhile united districts of Telangana State were covered during the last five days. Training programmes were held in Karimnagar and Sangareddy (Medak) on September 18; in Dichpally (Nizamabad) and Utnoor (Adilabad) on September 19; in Pargi (Rangareddy) and Mahabubnagar on September 20 and in Khammam and Suryapet (Nalgonda) on September 21. On Friday, a meeting was held in Warangal, which marked the culmination of first phase of training programme. He said all programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation of party workers and leaders across the Telangana State.

The TPCC chief also complimented the top leadership which travelled extensively covering all districts in a short span of five days. The leaders including AICC Secretary R.C. Khuntia and AICC SC Cell Chairman K. Raju, attended all the training programmes. "There was perfect coordination between the TPCC, DCC and other leaders which ensured grand success of all training programmes. The unity displayed by all the leaders and workers alike is the real strength of Congress party. It shows our concern towards farmers and the zeal to protect the farming community from further exploitation by TRS Government," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the 100-day 'Indiramma Rythu Bata', which was originally designed to train the Congress party's booth-level cadre on ongoing land records rectification drive taken up by the TRS Government, would be intensified further wherein training programmes would be held at Assembly constituency level. "Our main cadre is now equipped with facts, real statistics and the required literature to approach farmers in all villages to listen and understand their grievances. Further, by collecting applications from the eligible beneficiaries of 2BHK houses and 3 acres of land for Dalits, they would counter the false claims of TRS Govt on weaker section housing and Dalits' welfare. The Congress workers would also compile issue-wise list of problems being faced by the people in all villages of Telangana. He asked the party cadre to establish and maintain direct contact with the Dalits, Girijans, BCs, Minorities and other sections of the society and keep them apprised on the wrong policies and failures of BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Govt in Telangana State.

The TPCC chief said that the training programme also enabled direct connection between the booth-level workers and the party High Command through the specially designed application 'Shakti'. He said that the 'Shakti' App would improve communication between the booth-level workers and the top leadership while facilitating better execution of party programmes.

He also directed the party workers to play an active role in formation of 'Rythu Samrakshana Samithis' (Farmers' Protection Committees) in all the villages. He said that the Congress party would not allow the 'TRS Committees' to usurp upon the powers of Gram Panchayat and Village Administration to suppress the rights and interests of farmers. By constituting 'Rythu Samrakshana Samithis', which would comprise of representatives of all opposition parties, NGOs and real farmers, the Congress party would stall any anti-farmer move of TRS Government at the village level.

Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that the party would organise the birth centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on November 19 at a grand scale by hoisting flags in all villages. On October 2, on Mahatma Gandhi’s Jayanthi, dharnas will be held in all Gram Panchayats against GO 39, which annihilates the powers of local bodies, and also against the non-payment of wages to the farm labourers hired under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes (MNREGS).

The TPCC chief said that the party aims to train booth-level workers in all 119 Assembly constituencies across Telangana State by its next formation day on December 28. He said a massive public meeting will be held on the day which is likely to be addressed by either Congress president Sonia Gandhi or AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. He said venue for the public meeting would be decided later.
