Siddipet: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday walked down the memory lane on the first anniversary of Siddipet district formation. After laying the foundation stone for Siddipet Medical College at Ensanpally, the Chief Minister recalled the efforts he had made to make Siddipet a district.

Recalling his travel in 1982 from Ensanpally to Karimnagar with the then Chief Minister the late NT Rama Rao, KCR said, “We had drawn map of Siddipet district and requested NTR to carve out a new district. NTR wanted to create Mancheriyal district also, but he was not able to do either of them.”

KCR also recalled the instances where he had to travel all the way from Siddipet to Sangareddy Collectorate for issue of Mulki certificates to people, when every trip seemed like going for a war. He also remembered how Mrutyunjaya Sharma and Ganne Balreddy, his teachers at Dubbak Government School, imparted Telangana ideology in him. Earlier, on his way to Siddipet, Chandrashekar Rao gave a pleasant surprise to his childhood friends Anji Reddy and Jahangir.

Eyes of the bosom friends of the Chief Minister were wet with emotion when the CM’s convoy pulled off near their home at Mulugu. The Chief Minister stopped for a while at his friends’ house and greeted them. Later, he took them along with him to Siddipet as part of his official tour. The CM’s gesture not only surprised his friends, but also the officials and locals alike.
