Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) would start its own petrol pumps in the State within a month’s time as the corporation got NOC for about ten outlets at various parts of the State including the one in Hyderabad.

According to the RTC officials, the Corporation has many open lands across the State. The officials had taken up a feasibility study and identified 50 to 60 places where the petrol pumps can be set up. The Corporation would provide land and the petrol pumps would be run by the third party and the corporation would get revenue in the form of rent from the parties which run the pumps. The Corporation had called tenders and it got response from the bidders in some places.

A senior official told The Hans India that the corporation would be starting petrol pumps within a month’s time. The proposed petrol pumps would come up at Mahbubnagar, Sangareddy and two in the city including Rajendranagar and Hakimpet. The works at Hakimpet have almost been completed and remaining three would be completed within a month, said the official.

The official said that some more petrol pumps would be coming up at Bichkunda and Birkur in Nizamabad district, Kangti in Zaheerabad in Medak district, Mahabubabad and Hanamkonda in Warangal district. The corporation has received NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned district collectors, said the official.

RTC MD G V Ramana Rao told The Hans India that the land would be in the name of the corporation and the pump would be set up by oil companies. “It would be around 1,000 sq. yards land which is given for setting up the pump. Land will be ours and the people who run will have to share revenue apart from the land value,” said Ramana Rao.

It may be mentioned here that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during his day long review meeting with the RTC officials in June last year, directed the corporation to find ways and means to increase revenues apart from the passenger services. The corporation has been reeling under accumulated losses of Rs 2,200 crore.

The oil companies HPCL and IOCL had come forward for setting up of the petrol pumps and also entered into an MoU with the TSRTC to set up petrol bunks at 69 places in the State. The official said that the process takes time as the site has to have several permissions including explosives licence, NOCs etc.
