Opposition leaders kept under house arrest in Suryapet

Suryapet: On warning of protests during CM tour by all Opposition parties over wrong selection of site for new Collectorate building in Suryapet, district police made elaborate security arrangements at all CM touring venues in and around the Suryapet.

Meanwhile, the police also made house arrests of all important opposition leaders including BJP leader Sankineni Venkateshwar Rao, TDP leaders Bollam Mallaiah Yadav of Kodad, Patel Ramesh Reddy of Suryapet, Nemmadhi Venkateshwar Rao of CPM, Dharmarjun Reddy of Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika.

Upon receiving the news of house arrests of their leaders, BJP local leaders and activists tried to obstruct the CM convoy. However, police arrested them and shifted them to Kodad police station as a preventive measure. Similarly, condemning the arrests TDP activists burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister in the town and raised slogans against the government.
