The police informed that the deceased, Mandha Shamel, a daily wage labourer working in a construction field, had gone missing and his parents filed a complaint on September 24.

According to the reports, Shamel had borrowed Rs 25,000 from a friend in his home town, Prakasam district. Coming to know about this, his colleagues - Mahmood Pasha, Chander Naik and Shivraj Naik took Shamel to a forest area in Yalal, Sangarayapalle Thanda on the pretext of unearthing treasure.

Police stated that the trio made Shamel dig the pit and threw a boulder at him, killing him. It is learnt that they buried him in the same pit and shared the money amongst themselves.

Police have arrested one of the accused under section 302 (punishment for murder).
