Hyderabad: The State government has been diverting Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) funds which were sanctioned for the construction of Outer Ring Road (ORR). The JICA has already released Rs 280 crore but not even a single penny has been utilised for the ORR project in Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)'s jurisdiction.

Highly placed sources said that in 2016, JICA had credited Rs 280 crore to the State government. But till date, the government has not transferred the amount into HMDA’s account.

Sources said that the amount was transferred by JICA for the development of ORR. But the State government had issued a GO to release of around Rs 50 crore to HMDA but the department has not yet received any amount till date. When enquired about the subject, senior HMDA officials, including Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu, refused to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, some of the projects including wayside amenities, Highway Traffic Management (HTMS), Toll Management System (TMS), development of Koheda layout, Kandlakoya land allotment and registration, main carriage way at Kandlakoya , land settlement, micro surfacing and other major projects of ORR are yet to be completed.
